There were three things that Patricia and Kilby wanted to remember from their wedding day: The I do’s, the raw, candid emotions, and the love and celebration from those around them. I think we nailed all three! In this blog, I am sharing a glimpse into what working with a photographer can look like with two locations and 10 hours of wedding day coverage!

A Beautiful New England Love Story

Kilby and Patricia’s love story began unexpectedly at a mutual friend’s birthday cookout, where they instantly hit it off despite not intending to attend the event. Their connection deepened during a romantic date at Castle Island, marked by singing Disney songs together and realizing they were falling for each other. Kilby made their relationship official on August 24th by asking Patricia to be his girlfriend on the Tyngsborough bridge, and their journey led to a heartfelt proposal on Thanksgiving of 2022, resulting in a joyful “YES!” from Patricia.

When the Getting Ready Location is Different Than the Ceremony

Patricia and Kilby opted for a separate location to get ready, do their first touch, and host their reception.

Having a separate getting-ready location from your ceremony site has its pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Privacy: More privacy and space for preparation and minimizing distractions.
  • Convenience: Depending on distance, it may be more convenient logistically.
  • Variety in Photos: Different backdrops for pre-ceremony photos, enhancing your wedding album.
  • Reduced Stress: Allows focused preparation without the pressure of being at the ceremony site.

Cons:

  • Additional Travel Time: Increased travel time between locations, potentially causing stress. Pro Tip: Plan for extra time in your wedding day timeline for travel to and from your ceremony location!
  • Coordination Challenges: Requires careful coordination to ensure timely arrival at the ceremony site. Truthfully, when you trust your wedding day vendors, this coordination challenge can easily be resolved if the schedule gets pushed back.
  • Risk of Forgetting Items: More locations increase the chance of forgetting essential items.
  • Potential Cost: Additional expenses for renting separate locations impact the budget.

Ultimately, the decision depends on personal preference, logistics, and budget constraints.

10 Hour Wedding Day Timeline Example:

Typically, couples require 8-10 hours of photography coverage for their wedding day. However, Patricia and Kilby, who chose a more traditional wedding setup with separate ceremony and reception locations, decided on 10 hours to ensure every moment was captured without rushing, considering the additional time needed for travel between venues.

Here’s what a 10-hour wedding photography package looked like for Patricia & Kilby:

  • 12:00: Flat Lay Details
  • 1:00: Bride/Party Getting Ready
  • 1:00: Groom/Party Getting Ready (2nd photographer)

Throughout Patricia and Kilby’s wedding day, they were fully engaged, cherishing their love and the presence of their cherished guests. Because of this, they weren’t afraid to shed a few tears, prioritizing genuine emotions over perfect makeup. Even when things didn’t go exactly according to schedule, they remained calm, trusting us and the other vendors without allowing stress or worry to take over. For them, the most important thing was celebrating their marriage; everything else was just a bonus!

Kind Words from Patricia and Kilby’s New England Wedding

“I don’t know how we’ll be able to ever repay Paula. Having her on our wedding day was amazing & easily one of the best choices we had to make. She made the process so easy from beginning to end by answering all of our questions, helping us to pick a location, she even provided us with outfit guides for our pre-marital shoot! It felt not like a stranger but more like a close friend the whole time! She made sure everyone was comfortable the whole day, helped people with posing, and reassured me that everything was going to work out (& it did!) when we had a little delay in our timeline.

I’m so glad we got the opportunity to have her as a big part of our day! She’s truly amazing! God bless her, her hands, & her talent! She truly has a unique eye & way of capturing moments through a lens. I had no idea someone could capture me & Kilby in such a raw yet beautiful form! I literally gasp every time we go through the pictures because they are captured in such a way that you can get a feel of all the emotions through them! Both me & Kilby were crying on the inside (& outside) going through our galleries for the first time. SHE’S SO GOOD!”
