Celebrating Alison and Matt’s Elopement in Boston

When Alison and Matt reached out about their elopement, they had no idea what an elopement could look like—or what locations would feel truly special to them! During one of our calls, we dove into their story, and as we talked, the perfect locations revealed themselves! Their story became the guide to crafting their day, making their elopement in Boston not just a ceremony but a celebration of everything that brought them to this moment (I love when that happens)!

The Story of Alison and Matt

Alison and Matt’s love story started in a truly unique way: they met on a train during college. Their mutual friends had secretly conspired to make sure they spent time together, and it worked! Over time, they became inseparable. Their dating phase was filled with memories on the MIT campus—hanging out, doing homework, and even sneaking in little dates between classes. So, when it came to choosing elopement locations, the train and MIT campus naturally made the list.

Eloping at MIT Chapel and Beyond

The day began at the stunning MIT Chapel, a minimalist architectural gem that perfectly matched their style! I still remember the way the light filtered through the chapel, creating a soft glow on Alison’s face as she looked at Matt during their vows. It was one of those moments where time seemed to stand still, and the love between them filled the room. The intimacy of the space made their vows feel all the more personal and heartfelt!

Following their heartfelt ceremony, we took a moment to capture family portraits just outside the chapel. With only their immediate families present, this time was especially meaningful to them. These portraits celebrated not only their union but also the loved ones who have been by their side throughout their journey!

Afterward, we explored the MIT campus, revisiting spots where they had spent countless hours together during their dating days! Their exchanged laughs as they shared stories about their college experience and also anecdotes about the campus. It felt like we were walking through their shared history, with each corner of the campus holding a memory waiting to be revisited!

The subway station was another must-have location. For Alison and Matt, the train wasn’t just a mode of transportation—it was where their story began. They even shared about how their mutual friends had to meddle to make it happen, and the joy in their voices made it clear they wouldn’t have had it any other way. Capturing them there felt like coming full circle, weaving their journey into the fabric of their elopement day.

Making Your Elopement Locations Meaningful

Alison and Matt’s elopement is a perfect example of how your story can shape your day. If you’re planning your own elopement and don’t know where to start, here’s a simple guide to help you choose meaningful locations:

1. Reflect on Your Story

Think about where your relationship began or where pivotal moments happened. Did you meet at a coffee shop? Spend weekends hiking a specific trail? Maybe there’s a park where you shared your first kiss or a city you explored together.

2. Choose Locations With Personal Significance

Like Alison and Matt, you might want to revisit places where your love grew. Whether it’s a college campus, a favorite vacation spot, or even your own backyard, these locations will make your day feel like it’s truly about you!

3. Incorporate Shared Interests

Consider spaces that reflect your shared hobbies or passions. If you both love art, a museum might be perfect. If you’re foodies, think about a private dinner at a favorite restaurant or a picnic in a vineyard!

4. Embrace the Journey

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box! Alison and Matt’s train photos added a layer of depth and storytelling to their gallery. Incorporating unique locations like transit stations, bookstores, or even rooftops can make your photos one-of-a-kind.

5. Work With Your Photographer

A photographer who takes the time to get to know you will be able to guide you toward the best locations. I loved helping Alison and Matt brainstorm their spots and weave their love story into their photos. Getting to know Alison and Matt’s story was such a joy for me! Hearing about how they met and the little details of their journey gave me so much inspiration for their elopement. It was a privilege to bring their story to life through these meaningful locations.

Why Meaningful Locations Matter

Your elopement day is about celebrating your connection in a way that feels authentic to you. Choosing meaningful locations ensures that every photo, every moment, and every memory is rooted in what makes your love story unique.

One of my favorite moments from Alison and Matt’s day was during a quiet pause on the train platform. They were holding each other close, talking softly, and smiling like no one else existed around them. Those small, intimate moments are what make elopements so special—they’re entirely about the two of you and your love!

Whether you’re drawn to quiet chapels, bustling cityscapes, secret MIT underground tunnels, or serene natural settings, the best locations are the ones that feel like home to you both.
