Imagine a photoshoot that feels more like a date, filled with laughter, unique moments, and unforgettable experiences. That’s exactly what Sebas and Nora experienced during their couple’s session at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus! As a photographer, my goal is to craft a session that’s as memorable and enjoyable as it is beautiful, and this shoot was no exception. So, in this blog, I am sharing exactly how to have a fun couples photoshoot like Sebas and Nora’s did!
You can’t go wrong with the childlike fun of floating on an air mattress in the lake.
Meeting at Church and Falling in Love
Sebas and Nora’s love story began at their Young Adult church group. Sebas had been a consistent member for quite some time, while Nora was new to the community. The group was gearing up for their annual Fall Retreat, which Sebas was helping to plan. Nora signed up, and during the retreat, the two hit it off. Their connection grew stronger, leading to marriage and the joy of raising their beautiful daughter together.
A Unique and Fun Couples Photoshoot in Saugus, MA
Sebas and Nora brought their adventurous spirits and fun-loving nature to our session. They are always up for trying new things and sharing a good laugh, which made this shoot a blast. We decided to incorporate an inflatable mattress, which was more challenging than it sounds! Balancing on the mattress led to genuine laughter and moments of pure joy, bringing out their inner child. It’s moments like these that remind us how healing and good laughter is for our adult bodies.
Breaking the Conventional Photoshoot Mold
Photoshoots don’t have to be conventional! You have the freedom to break out of the norm and create a session that truly represents you. For Sebas and Nora, this wasn’t just a photoshoot; it was a fun, memorable experience that we created together as the sun set. It’s not every day you get to float on an air mattress over the water, laughing and enjoying each other’s company.
My aim with a couple’s sessions is to make them feel more like a date with your love rather than just a photoshoot. I love providing space for my couples to experience something fun, weird, or entirely new together. This approach makes the session unique and special to them, and I’m there to capture those genuine moments.
Planning Your Fun Couples Session Around an Activity
I encourage more couples to plan their sessions around an activity. When there’s an activity to focus on, couples are less aware of the camera, resulting in more natural and authentic photos. This is especially helpful if you’re feeling camera-shy or “awkward”. By starting with something you and your partner already enjoy doing together, the photos will reflect your true relationship, and your body will feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
Sebas and Nora’s session at Breakheart Reservation was a perfect example of how a couple’s session can be both creative and fun. If you’re looking for an out-of-the-box idea for your next couples photoshoot, consider incorporating an activity that brings you joy and laughter. Below are a few of my favorite ideas:
1. Go ice skating, skiing, or snowboarding
2. Go to your favorite coffee shop or bar
3. Biking or skateboarding down your street
4. Rent a super dope or vintage car and take it around town
5. Have a romantic picnic at the park
6. Go camping or hiking
7. Go swimming at a private lake or at the beach during sunset
8. Go shop for new plants at a green house
9. Go to a carnival
10. Have a paint night
The possibilities are truly endless!! Let’s create a memorable experience together!
