Planning a Fall Wedding in Boston? The Checklist

With any wedding, you’re probably going to be considering the weather. In Boston, rain is likely, however, it’s usually not sticking around for a long time. However, you still want to plan for any potential downpours that Mother Nature could have up her sleeve!

  1. Choose a venue with indoor and outdoor space – This helps you plan for the weather and also enjoy the fall foliage and cool temps!

Natalie and Julian chose the Lakeview Pavilion as their wedding venue, which is located 30 miles southwest of Boston. This is one of my favorite wedding venues to experience a fall wedding! The cathedral ceilings and glass windows provide the perfect setting for portraits indoors and the spacious outdoor patio with tall beautiful trees provides the perfect environment with a nice view/background for portraits outdoors!

  1. Timing is everything! During the fall months, the sun begins to set sooner each night! You want to make sure that you are coordinating with your vendor team to ensure that your timeline is not getting pushed into sunset portrait time! Golden hour is even better during the fall!
  2. Focus on complimenting the fall foliage with earthy tones and textures for your fall wedding decor! Keep it simple and cozy!
  3. Ask your photographer for galleries of their couples during a fall wedding! This will help you decide if the editing style of the photographer is right for you as well as if this photographer has experience capturing the essence of the fall season during past sessions or weddings!
  4. You can never go wrong with seasonal accessories that bring everything together! From fall floral crowns to fur shawls – these accessories will complete the cozy, and warm vibes that represent fall so well!
  5. Nail your bride and groom portraits with natural, candid interactions, living in the present moment, incorporating movement and focusing on each other!
