It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of your wedding day, documenting every detail from the flowers to the first kiss. But what happens after the wedding? So many couples forget to take photos after they say “I do.” Yet, anniversary sessions are just as important as your wedding photos! In this blog, I am sharing why you should consider an anniversary photo shoot!
What is an Anniversary Photo Shoot?
Anniversary photos are a beautiful way to celebrate the milestones in your marriage and capture how your relationship has evolved over the years!
Unlike wedding photos, which capture the beginning of your journey, anniversary sessions are about celebrating the moments you’ve shared since then: the laughter, the challenges, the growth, and the love that has deepened.
These sessions give couples a chance to reflect on their relationship, create new memories, and preserve the unique stage of life they’re in.
Whether you’re marking your first year together or your fiftieth, anniversary photos serve as a tangible reminder of the love and commitment you’ve nurtured, showing how far you’ve come and how much further you’ll go together.
Sarah + Tyler’s Fenway Park 10 Year Anniversary Session
Sarah and Tyler make it a goal to have at least one photoshoot every 1-2 years. Looking back at those photos is how they see their growth, not just individually, but also as a couple in their relationship and marriage!
They capture how far both Sarah and Tyler have come since the last photoshoot and remind them of the moments and milestones that they have celebrated. Whether it’s a big life event, like a new family member, a move, or even a shared win, capturing those moments in photographs keeps those memories alive.
Sarah and Tyler’s 10-year anniversary session at Fenway Park in Boston is the perfect example of this! They met on a blind date, and seven months later, they knew they were meant to be together forever. “We just KNEW,” Sarah said.
Since getting married on October 10, 2014, they’ve built a beautiful life together. Sarah shared with me that being Tyler’s wife has been one of the biggest blessings in her life, and that he loves her with the same kind of dedication and grace that reflects their faith. I was so moved by how deeply they cherish their marriage and all the fun adventures they’ve shared.
Why You Should Take Anniversary Photos
Anniversary sessions, like Sarah and Tyler’s, aren’t just about pretty pictures! They’re about honoring the journey you’ve taken together, the love that’s deepened over the years, and the memories you’ve built along the way. It’s a chance to slow down and reflect on where you’ve been and where you’re going as a couple.
Scheduling these shoots around a special event, like Sarah and Tyler’s Red Sox anniversary trip—makes the memories even more vivid. Years from now, they’ll look back at their Fenway photos and remember not just their love, but the fun adventures they had celebrating their 10 years together in Boston.
Photoshoot Idea for Anniversary Photos: A Session at the Ballpark
As Red Sox fans, Sarah and Tyler knew they had to celebrate their anniversary by visiting Boston and catching some games. They were so excited to mark this milestone with a couple’s shoot, something they had never done with another photographer. As Sarah put it, “It seems like we never make our way out from behind the camera!”
When they reached out, I instantly knew Fenway was the perfect place for their session! It tied in so many elements of their anniversary trip and love story.
To avoid the packed crowds that typically swarm the Fenway area on game days, we scheduled their session at sunrise. It turned out to be the best decision! There were maybe four other people around, which gave us the chance to capture Sarah and Tyler’s love with a clear backdrop.
We played games like rock-paper-scissors and thumb war to get those natural, light-hearted moments they were hoping for. It was so important to me that their photos reflected the “fun, light-hearted, happy, genuine sweetness” they described when we first talked.
Capturing Meaningful Moments During Your Anniversary Photo Shoot
The love these two have after 10 years is something special, and I wanted to make sure they could feel that joy and connection every time they look back on these photos.
To wrap up our session, we hit a nearby rooftop with stunning views of the Boston cityscape. It added a fun urban vibe that matched their easy-going, adventurous personalities!
By the end, it felt like we were old friends, even sharing a conversation about fostering and adoption—something close to their hearts and a path I’m considering in the future.
A Celebration of Your Journey Together!
Anniversary photos are more than just another photoshoot! They’re a celebration of your marriage, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the joy you continue to find in each other. Whether it’s been one year, five years, or ten, every milestone matters! And capturing those moments in time is something you’ll never regret.
So, to all the couples out there, whether you’ve just gotten married or you’re celebrating your 25th anniversary, don’t let those moments slip away. Celebrate your journey with a photoshoot, and look back on those pictures to see just how far you’ve come together. After all, your love story deserves to be remembered every step of the way!
